In case you don’t know, I love frozen yogurt and gelato but can’t really stand ice cream because its consistency is too thick for my liking (although I make a few exceptions once and a while, like for Philippine mango ice cream hehe). A couple of days ago, I found a recipe on tumblrgym for banana “ice cream” made of literally just bananas. I decided to give it a try and added in a couple of strawberries as well—it was AMAZING. Definitely making that more often.
My mom and I also decided to bake bread for the first time. We ended up making whole wheat honey oat, with some of our own substitutions so it was a little healthier :) That was the first time I wore an apron in my kitchen…I felt like such a housewife, especially with my hair up haha.
I realized from these two seemingly-mediocre things that even the slightest impulsive decisions make a huge difference in how you see the world. Weather forecasts predicted that today we’d see some much-needed rain—and yet, instead of driving to get my groceries, I walked to Save Mart and back as a reminder that a little rain never hurt anyone. Instead of resorting to eating the same things I eat everyday, I made new and delicious food from the recipes I always tend to overlook. And instead of wasting away online all day like I have been since my East Coast trip, I visited Mr. Mann, who told me all about his wonderful stories of travelling throughout Europe and going on a 3-week cross country road trip with his friend from college…my wanderlust went completely haywire. It all makes me want to get up and run right this second.
Routine is necessary, but as with most things, it’s dangerous in excess. Today, just when I was about to get used to my daily vacation schedule, reality reminded me that it doesn’t always have to be so predictable and mechanic. The smallest changes can make the biggest differences. Look what happens when you put frozen fruit in a food processor instead of just eating them raw—you get (non) ice cream.
