La Vita e Bella

takecontroloftheradio:

I feel pretty. There, I said it. And all it took was a night out with one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. Tonight, Jill and I headed to North Beach for some Italian food. Taking the cable car, we met a lovely pair of people. We had a great conversation with them, recommended a restaurant, and made sure they got where they wanted to go. We got great big hugs and many thanks from them too. We decided to walk down the street and see what restaurant met our fancy. And boy, did we find one. We were about to walk right past it when the man at the door asked us if we wanted to try some bruschetta. We said, why not, and it was delicious. So we figured we should eat there (they even had my favorite pasta, penne al’arrabiata). We had an amazing waiter who was so friendly. And we got a free plate of more bruschetta while we were waiting for our food. Of course we had an amazing conversation in which I got a major confidence boost from Jill and a little bit of advice on how I need to realize how wonderful/pretty/charming I am. And it made me feel a lot better about myself. Our waiter brought our checks, we paid, and we were about to leave when he came over with a plate. It was tiramisu from a “secret admirer” (we’re quite sure it was the waiter but who knows). We of course were completely flustered and excited. So we took some pictures, including an awesome one with our fabulous waiter. The tiramisu was phenomenal. So we ate every last bite, bid goodbye to our waiter with hugs and kisses and ciao bella’s and everything. We headed down the street, looking for some coffee and of course stopped at a candy store. I got some of my favorite candy and we got some free homemade caramel corn which was warm and delicious. Then we headed to a cafe, where Jill had a hazelnut cappuccino and I got one of the best mochas I have ever had, which even had homemade whipped cream on top. A very kind man who worked there and was probably on break gave us his table so we could sit down. We finished our drinks and walked back to Market Street. On our way back, we saw a very cute Italian man who had wonderful hair that was very European. Jill commented on it and a guy who was walking by us goes “I’m European!” as he was walking by. Then someone who seemed like that guy’s friend was in the middle of yelling up to him and saw us, paused, said “you ladies are absolutely beautiful” and then resumed his conversation while running to meet up with his friend.

I swear to you, North Beach in San Francisco is the perfect place to go if you need a pick-me-up or want to feel absolutely beautiful. I hope everyone has a night as lovely as mine was.

Little Italy nights are my absolute favorite with this girl.  <3
